In our organization, we believe in the power of constellations and systemic work to reveal underlying dynamics and patterns within families, teams, and organizations. This methodology helps people gain insight into what is holding them back and what can help them move forward.

Because this work often touches on deeply personal and emotional layers, we believe it is crucial to facilitate every workshop or coaching session with care and professionalism.

That is why we would like to focus on an important topic: how do we ensure quality in constellations and systemic work?

Why is quality important in systemic work?

Facilitating systemic work requires a high degree of expertise and responsibility. The impact can be significant, and without the right guidance, there is a risk that participants will feel overwhelmed or misunderstood. For us, quality is about providing a safe, respectful, and professional environment in which participants can truly gain insights and grow.

Not scientific, but phenomenological

Systemic work is not based on a scientific method such as experimental research or quantitative data analysis. It does not follow strictly empirically proven protocols and is often classified as an experiential approach.

The core of systemic work lies in phenomenology: observing what presents itself without explaining or analyzing it in advance.

Pioneers and the theoretical foundation

Although systemic work is not “scientific” in the strict sense, it does have a theoretical foundation. Its founder, Bert Hellinger combined insights from psychoanalysis, family therapy, and philosophy. His work is strongly influenced by systemic theories (such as the theories of Gregory Bateson and the work of Virginia Satir) and phenomenological philosophy (such as that of Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger).

Intuitive and experience-based approach

The power of systemic work lies in working with intuition and the wisdom of the “field” (the systemic energy field that arises in a constellation). This field is experienced by the representatives and provides access to deeper layers of consciousness and underlying patterns.

Criticism and recognition

Although systemic work has no scientific basis in the traditional sense, it is recognized for the impact it can have and the insights it can offer. It has gained an important place in therapeutic and coaching circles precisely because it provides access to deeper systemic dynamics that often cannot be captured in words or through analysis.

Our approach to ensuring quality

We recognize that systemic work is not scientific in the traditional sense, but we do take a thorough, professional approach. Ensuring quality is central to everything we do. We achieve this through a combination of careful preparation, professional leadership, and a constant focus on improvement.

1. Clarity and focus

Every workshop or session we conduct begins with a clear definition of objectives. These objectives guide the content and ensure that we address the participants’ needs.

2. Expertise and experience

We continuously invest in our own professional development as counselors. We do this by taking additional training courses, receiving regular supervision, participating in peer supervision, and being members of the national professional organization NOBCO. As a result, our expertise is constantly growing, and we stay up to date with the latest insights in systemic work.

3. A strong foundation of preparation

A good result starts with thorough preparation. Our workshops are carefully designed, with a clear structure and attention to time management. The content is based on professional knowledge and practical experience, giving participants a solid foundation.

4. A safe and supportive environment

We place great value on creating an environment where participants feel safe to explore personal issues. By establishing clear guidelines regarding confidentiality and respect, we foster an atmosphere in which everyone can share freely without judgment.

The foundation of this safety lies within ourselves. When we, as facilitators, feel completely safe within ourselves, we radiate this sense of safety to the group. This requires in-depth shadow work: exploring and integrating our own unresolved issues, so that projections and unconscious dynamics have as little influence as possible on the group dynamic. In this way, we provide a safe and supportive foundation.

5. Diversity in working methods

To make systemic work accessible to a wide range of participants, we use a variety of methods. These include constellations, individual reflection exercises, and group discussions. This variety ensures that everyone can learn in their own way.

6. Active participation of participants

We involve our participants in the process right from the start. By letting them know in advance what to expect and how to prepare, we help them participate with the right mindset.

7. Feedback and improvement

We believe that quality is a never-ending process. That’s why, after every session, we gather feedback through evaluations and discussions. We use this input to continuously improve our workshops and coaching so that they better meet the wishes and needs of our participants.

8. Aftercare and integration

Our commitment doesn’t end after the workshop. We offer participants the option of follow-up support, such as follow-up sessions or individual coaching. In addition, we provide supplementary materials upon request, so that participants can further deepen their insights and integrate them into their daily lives.

Reflection as a core value

For us, ensuring quality also means continuing to take a critical look at ourselves. After every workshop, we take the time to reflect on our own actions: What worked well? Where can we still grow? This self-reflection helps us to consistently give our best and further develop our expertise.

Through this approach, we offer systemic work that is not only professional and safe but also has a lasting impact on our participants. For us, quality is not a goal but an ongoing process of care, attention, and development.
